Summer & Continual Professional Development Courses

Our forthcoming Summer and CPD courses:-

Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th July 2010
Sat: 9.30-5pm, Sun: 9.30am-3.30pm
The Zodiac and Planetary Colours. Cost: £125.00
Each Zodiac sign has its own distinctive colour as does the Planet related to it. These in turn colour our own lives and will be explored using watercolour and pastels. There will be a talk on the significance of magenta, violet and peach blossom in connection with the human being and the cosmos. Also included is a talk on the Planetary influences throughout the phases of life. The virtues and challenges posed by each Zodiac sign can be seen as a path of spiritual development. Note: This is not an astrological course.
Led by Diane Flowers, tutor, artist, eurythmy therapist

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th July 2010
Sat: 9.30am-5pm, Sun 9.30am-3.30pm
Things Fall Apart: Borderline Personality Disorder and the Seven Life Processes. Cost: £125.00
(CPD certificate available)
The experience and expression of emotion, relationships and day-to-day experiences are exceptionally varied. Borderline Personality Disorder is a diagnosis that refers to one extreme on this range of experience and expression and poses significant challenges to both the person and those around them. It is therefore not surprising that people with this diagnosis are often described as “splitting” relationships, “manipulating” others and “pushing boundaries”.
In this workshop we will explore emotion and its fragmentation in its different manifestations in relationship. We will draw on Steiner’s seven life processes, drama and reflection in developing an appreciation of the fragile complexity of the soul.
Led by Juan Korkie, a clinical psychologist integrating Anthroposophy, therapy and mental health.

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th July 2010
Sat: 9.30-5pm, Sun: 9.30am-3.30pm
Art of Life Drawing with Colour. Cost: £125.00
On this course the model is drawn freely with colour, sometimes at speed and to music or movement. A series of exercises will be given using a variety of drawing instruments from both East and West. The teaching is inspired by the visionary painter Cecil Collins. Suitable for beginners and advanced students.
Led by Jeremy Gale, who has taught the Art of Creativity for many years and is a Psychology of Vision Trainer and student of Cecil Collins.

Monday 12th July to Friday 16th July 2010
9.30am-5pm Monday to Friday
Towards the image: Rudolf Steiner’s colour categories and their impact on composition. Cost: £295.00
This week’s exploration will begin with an introduction to the concepts of Lustre and Image colours. Creating paintings - using watercolour and pastels - we will find how they lead to different motifs related to nature and the imagination. Lecture presentations and reflective conversations will complement the individual’s lively engagement with the world of colour and form.
Led by Clare Kunze, experienced anthroposophical arts tutor, lecturer and painter who has developed a unique approach to process-inspired painting.

Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th July 2010
Sat: 9.30am-5pm, Sun 9.30am-3.30pm
Dancing with Dragons: Transforming Anger through Art. Cost: £125.00
(CPD certificate available)
Anger is an emotion that we can all relate to, yet so often we see it as something that is only negative and destructive, as something we have to control, suppress and get rid of. What is lost is that without anger we cannot love and without anger we cannot learn to face the world and ourselves. This is true both for ourselves and for people that we may work with.
In this workshop you will have the opportunity to explore your own anger as an embodied emotion and the ways in which it serves you. Through the use of creative imagery and metaphoric dialogue you will be invited to develop new ways of making sense of and relating to your anger. We will also explore ways of shaping and expressing anger using music, painting and sculpting as means for developing a different relationship to anger..
Led by Gill David, Tobias Director of Art Therapy training and Juan Korkie, clinical psychologist integrating Anthroposophy, therapy and mental health.

Where we have indicated that the courses lead to a CPD Certificate we require full participation.
